Conductor | Vocal Coach | Workshop Leader
Richard Brain is a Conductor based in North London, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. His portfolio includes Director of Chapel Music at The Peterborough School, Director of Music of Christ Church Southgate, and Musical Director of Barnet Choral Society and Bishop's Stortford Choral Society.
As the conductor of a diverse range of ensembles, Richard is equally comfortable directing singers and instrumentalists on a large or small scale. He trains hundreds of singers every week, exploring sacred and secular choral music from the Renaissance, through the great Baroque and Classical oratorios, to works for children's choirs and modern commissioned works. Since March 2020 Richard has transformed his working practices to adapt to the challenges of Covid-19 social distancing measures including online rehearsals and teaching, as well as producing weekly music recordings for Christ Church Southgate's virtual church services.
Richard studied Choral Conducting on the renowned MA Course at the Royal Academy of Music where he was awarded the Irene Burcher Prize in 2013.
